Refractive Surgery - Conductive Keratoplasty

Conductive Keratoplasty is the latest revolutionary non laser technology from Refractive USA, developed just for people over 40 who struggle with reading glasses and want to improve their near vision.

CK is an FDA approved technology. This is done as an out patient procedure and requires just few minutes.

What is Presbyopia?
Presbyopia is a condition when the natural lens inside your eyes becomes less flexible and therefore loses its ability to focus. There are number of functions in your routine life which requires near vision, like reading newspapers, telephone bills, mobile displays, computer screens etc. With Presbyopia to view near objects there is a need to wear reading glasses. Daily activities become increasingly difficult without glasses

What is the treatment for Presbyopia?
There was no treatment for this condition, until recently except for prescription of glasses. Today’s enhancing lifestyle calls for less dependency on external aids especially

for a large chunk of professionals who are above 40 years of age. Now CK comes as a boon to these set of people.

What does CK do?
CK uses radio frequency waves to reshape the cornea and bring near vision back into focus. In CK a small probe as thin as a human hair strand is used to apply spots on predetermined circular pattern to shrink certain collagen tissues on the outer cornea. This reshapes the corneal shapes as it has a tightening effect on the cornea and the new corneal curvature adjusts itself to see near objects clearly.

Who is eligible for CK
Any Presbyopic patient with adequate corneal thickness is eligible for CK. Patients who have minimal Hyperopia powers (Plus Powers) can also be treated with CK. The other area where CK can be used is for patients with residual power after cataract surgery.

Selection of patient for CK is largely dependent on the occupation, functional needs of the patient post operatively and surgeon decides the treatment after doing a complete examination of the patient.
