Optometry
Warm Greetings, Serving fellow human beings with the best possible eye care is my motto. My dream of setting up an institute of total eye care has now become a reality. Though satisfied as an ophthalmic surgeon I always want to contribute my wisdom and time to the people of my country. Millions of Indians are suffering from curable blindness and low vision which prompted me to impart knowledge and experience to large number of young Indians, who would in turn serve them Lotus Eye Care Hospital has been the fore runner in training young ophthalmologists, optometrists and nurses from the date of inception. The hospital has conducted many conferences, continuing medical education programmes, skill transfer symposia and workshops for the past 10 years. It also offers short-term and long term fellowship training programmes for practicing ophthalmologists. Lotus Bausch & Lomb Institute of Optometry was begun with the mission to produce more number of qualified optometrists who would take care of the optical and part of medical eye care of people. This would pave way for taking the eye care to the rural pockets of India to offer timely treatment. Availability of qualified optometrists would also help ophthalmic surgeons to devote more time for complicated eye problems. As the application of optometry widen, there would be increasing need for enhanced optometry education and training. For many students optometry research, physiologic optics, visual psycho physics and community optometry would be very much interesting. Lotus Bausch & Lomb Institute of Optometry would help graduation of more number of optometrists to meet the global demand and provide professional education programmes related to eye health and vision care. Lotus would be dedicated to achieve excellence and provide high standard of academic environment which would encourage the students learning and overall development through exchange of views and transfer of skills. I am sure the optometrists will have dynamic and expanding role to play which would benefit millions of our people with timely and better eye care. I would welcome the students who by informed option chosen optometry as the rewarding profession. I advise every one of you to learn, train and dedicate not only for your success but also for the betterment of fellow human beings. Sight saving is life saving. Let optometry be your career. A career with a vision to provide personal and professional growth.
Best of Luck, |
