Dr. Gayatri Murugan is a specialist in Medical Retina and Uvea, with extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of complex retinal and inflammatory eye diseases.

She completed her undergraduate medical education at Coimbatore Medical College, followed by postgraduate training in Ophthalmology at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Madras Medical College. She subsequently pursued a Retina Fellowship at Aravind Eye Hospital, gaining comprehensive training in retinal diseases.

Following her fellowship, Dr. Gayatri further advanced her expertise in Medical Retina and Uvea at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, a tertiary referral centre in the United Kingdom, where she worked for six years.

Her areas of clinical expertise include diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal diseases, and uveitis. She is experienced in managing a wide spectrum of retinal conditions, including complex cases requiring specialised evaluation and long-term care.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gayatri served at the Liverpool Reading Centre, which is part of the Network of Ophthalmic Reading Centres UK (NetwORC UK). During her tenure, she contributed to clinical research and ophthalmic imaging studies, including image annotation and activities related to clinical trial design.
