ReLEx SMILE vs LASIK
ReLEx SMILE allows the correction of the refractive error without a large side cut incision and without the creation of a corneal flap, while preserving to a large extent, the original corneal architecture. It uses only one femtosecond laser to complete the refractive surgery, potentially reducing surgical time and side effects.
In LASIK, A flap of corneal cover is made by Femto laser or microkeratome (blade Lasik) and lifted aside, followed by number correction with the help of excimer laser by removing the corneal tissues. Later on the flap is kept back in original position. Flap Cut size is nearly 20mm. Whereas in ReLEx SMILE, an incision of just 2mm is created in the corneal layer. This is the most minimal invasive refractive correction method.
