Post graduate Fellowship Programs in Ophthalmology

Fellowship in Cornea, Cataract & Refractive Surgery

Eligibility: MS/MD/DNB

Duration: 18 Months

Clinical Exposure:

  • External Eye Disorders, Various Corneal Disorders, Ocular Surface Management
  • Refractive Surgery
  • Cataract surgery including topical phacoemulsification.

Investigations

ORB Scan/Corneal Tomography, Aberrometry, Specular Microscopy, Automated Keratometry, IOL Master 700, Work Up for Refractive Procedures, Corneal Ulcer Work Up, Eye Bank Procedures

Procedures (Performed independently)

  • Phacoemulsification including topical cases.
  • Penetrating Keratoplasty (Therapeutic) Optical- under supervision
  • Lamellar keratoplasty under supervision
  • Pterygium Excision with conjunctival autograft,
  • Procedures related to Ocular surface Disorders (Amniotic Membrane Grafts, Mucous Membrane Grafts under supervision)
  • Corneal Refractive Procedures: Surface Ablation, Microkeratome LASIK, Femtosecond LASIK, Small Incision Lenticule Extraction under supervision
  • Phakic IOL’s, Refractive cataract surgery (Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery): under supervision
  • Programme will include Case Discussions, Seminars, Clinical Meeting Presentations, Periodic assessment, maintenance of log book and final exit examination

 

Stipend: Rs 40,000 per month

Refundable Caution Deposit: Rs 30,000

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology

Eligibility: MS/MD/DNB/DO

Duration: 18 Months

Training Schedule

  • General Ophthalmology including SICS, Phaco including Topical Phaco
  • Glaucoma
  • Medical Retina
  • Cornea and Refractive Surgery
  • Oculoplasty & External Eye Diseases
  • Pediatric Ophthalmology
  • Neuroophthalmology
  • Low Vision & Contact Lens

Programme includes:

  • Training in OPD for Independent Case Disposals
  • Training in relevant Investigative Procedures
  • Observation/Assisted/Individual Performance of Surgical Procedures
  • Case Discussions, Clinical Meeting Presentations
  • Periodic assessment

Stipend: Rs 40,000 per month

Refundable Caution Deposit: Rs 30,000/

Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery

Duration: 18 Months + 6 Months (Clinical adjunct)

Eligibility: MS / MD / DNB

Programme includes:

Mastering

  • Indirect Ophthalmoscopy
  • Slit Lamp Examination techniques
  • Contact and  non-contact  lenses 

Investigations

  • Performing various procedures like
  • FFA
  • ICG
  • OCT
  • USG and Interpreting them in various clinical conditions.

Candidate gets to learn and perform various Vitreo retinal treatment procedures:

  • Green and Diode lasers in various clinical  conditions
  • IL O laser Delivery
  • PDT laser ( observe)
  • ROP laser
  • Intra Vitreal Injection administration

Retinal OPD

  • Will get to  see  and  diagnose  various  clinical cases in OPD

Surgeries

  • Candidate gets  to  assist and  perform
  • Scleral buckling procedures
  • Pars Plana Vitrectomies for different clinical  conditions  (23G, 25G, 27G) under supervision

Academics:

  • There will be clinical case presentations and  lectures in Vitreo Retinal topics
  • Candidate is expected to present a paper in national/ state ophthalmic society during his/her tenure
  • Candidate should participate in regular clinical meetings for postgraduates
  • They must maintain their log book.
  • There will be an exit exam at the end of the tenure

Community Service:

  • Candidate is expected to attend Diabetic & ROP screening camps and related camps during his/her tenure

Stipend: Rs.40000 per month

Clinical Adjunct stipend : Rs.50000 per month

Refundable Caution deposit: Rs.30000

Fellowship in Glaucoma

Duration :18 months

Program includes:

1 month other specialty posting, 1 week each (Orientation program):

Hands on training in various diagnostic procedure like:

  • Humphrey field analysis
  • Optical coherence tomography
  • Pachymetry
  • Ultrasound
  • Gonioscopy applanation tonometry
  • Non-contact tnometry
  • Pre-operative work up for filtering surgeries and combined surgeries

Candidate gets to observe and learn following surgical and laser procedures:

  • yag iridotomy
  • yag suturolysis
  • cyclocryoprexy
  • trabeculectomy
  • trabeculectomy + trabeculotomy
  • combined cataract and filtering surgery
  • bleb needling
  • 5 FU injections in post trab cases

Academics:

  • there will be scheduled lectures on glaucoma
  • candidate is expected to present a paper in national /state ophthalmic society during his tenure
  • candidate should participate in regular clinical meetings for postgraduates .
  • They must maintain their log book .
  • There will be an exit exam at the end of tenure.

Community  service:

  • Candidate is expected to attend glaucoma screening camps and related camps during his/her tenure.
